Lens animation ENG

 

The 3d animation is made with Maya, renderet with Mental ray and composed in After Effects. The lens is modelled using real outer dimensions to ensure correct proportions and an authentic aspect. Working in Maya is not something that I am familiar with since I’m used to modeling in other software, so this was somewhat of a challenge for me although i have modelling experience.

I modelled the lens elements with polygons and applied different modifiers to achieve the curves and shapes that I wanted. Especially the bevel and boolean tools was used in the project.

The animation is made up of 600 rendered frames total, 200 for each of the three sequences. Three point lighting setup and a hdri image illuminated the scenes. I used a single Maya camera to animate the path and point of view.
